Architectural Technician - Preston
We are seeking an Architectural Technician to join the Measurement and Data Capture Team in our Preston Office. This is a key technical role focused on delivering high quality measured surveys, 3D scanning outputs and architectural drawing packages across a wide range of sectors.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members to produce accurate existing‑condition models, proposed layouts, and detailed Building Regulations drawings. They will also contribute to the continued development of our measurement and digital capture capabilities.
This role will suit either:
An experienced Architectural Technician looking to broaden their technical and sector exposure, or
A developing technician with strong CAD skills ready to take the next step in their career

Key Priorities
Technical Delivery:
Undertake measured building surveys using a combination of traditional methods, digital tools, and 3D laser scanning equipment
Process point cloud data and convert outputs into accurate 2D drawings and 3D models
Produce existing and proposed architectural layouts, elevations, sections, and technical details
Prepare Building Regulations drawings and support the submission of statutory applications
Work across a variety of sectors including commercial, industrial, residential, education, and healthcare
Quality and Accuracy:
Ensure all survey outputs and drawing packages meet AG’s technical standards and client expectations
Maintain strong attention to detail, particularly when interpreting survey data and coordinating information
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with senior technicians, surveyors, and project managers to deliver coordinated project information
Support junior team members with CAD standards, survey techniques, and digital workflows where appropriate
Contribute to the development of team processes, templates, and digital capture methodologies
Client Interaction:
Represent AG professionally on site and during client meetings
Communicate clearly with clients and project teams to understand requirements and ensure successful delivery
Growth & Development:
Take an active role in developing your technical skills in areas such as BIM, point cloud processing, and digital surveying
Longer‑term progression opportunities include senior technical roles, digital capture specialism, or project coordination depending on your strengths and ambitions
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for someone who:-
Experienced in producing architectural drawings and technical details using AutoCAD and/or Revit
Confident working with measured survey data, point clouds, and digital capture tools (training can be provided)
Organised, methodical, and able to manage multiple tasks within a busy project environment
A strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Technically curious, proactive, and motivated by continuous improvement and professional development
Personable and professional when dealing with clients and project stakeholders
