Project Brief

+

Owned by the Estate of Ellel Grange, Chauffeurs Cottage is situated on the end of a row of historic stone built out-buildings. Previously used as a residence, the property has fallen into gross disrepair with floors, ceilings and roof alike all requiring major renovation.

Anderton Gables were to provide possible refurbishment and restoration options to turn this once habitable shell, back into a viable property.

Project Summary

+

AG began with a full inspection of the property’s existing condition. It was clear from the outset that the property was in a significantly uninhabitable condition with both the ground floor and first floor roof having collapsed. The shell of the building, however seemed to be in a reasonable condition.

Once the condition had been thoroughly assessed, Anderton Gables Architectural Team assessed the potential floor space available and prepared a series of viable options to restore the building into a dwelling.

Adjoining the premises is a large unused ‘loft’ space that could be incorporated within the proposed building if the additional floor space would add to the overall development. The final proposed options differed between a large 2-bedroom cottage, to 2 separate apartments split over the 3 floors.
