Following the recent promotions at AG, we have more great news to announce….Vince Rimmer will be taking on the role of Head of Neighbourly Matters.
Neighbourly Matters is a specialist area of Surveying practice involving the resolution of disputes (or avoidance of potential disputes) between the owners/occupiers of neighbouring properties.
Depending upon the specific case, different pieces of legislation will apply and many developments will require the input of a Neighbourly Matters specialist to allow the works to be undertaken.
The main areas dealt with under ‘Neighbourly Matters’ include, but not limited to:-
- Party Wall Matters
- Boundary Disputes (+ rights of way/easements)
- Rights of Light (+ daylight/sunlight/glare/overshadowing)
- Access to Neighbouring land, over-sailing, high hedges, other nuisance etc.
Vince is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Chartered Building Engineer and gained his qualifications in 2013. He has a broad range of knowledge and experience in defect diagnosis surveying and running architectural projects, from conception through construction; including obtaining necessary statutory (Planning & Building Regulations) approvals. Vince spent most of his early career in a private practice in Southport working on various residential and commercial properties for private clients and dealing with large scale dilapidations and regeneration projects for a large practice in Liverpool. From this varied experience, Vince has gained an appetite for Neighbourly Law and now focuses much of his time in dealing with Neighbourly Matters instructions.
Vince sits on the RICS panel as an ‘APC Assessor’ examining surveyors looking to become Chartered. He also provides the role of in-house supervisor to our Graduate/Trainee Building Surveyors, and volunteers on the RICS ‘APC Mentor’ programme, advising candidates from other firms.
