A staggering £1 million raised for Lancashire flood fund

To date £490,000 of Flood Appeal charitable grants have been distributed by the Community Foundation to over 220 households in the greatest need that have been affected by the flooding, benefiting thousands of local people across the county. Grants have supported local people to rebuild their lives, including immediate clean-up work as well as replacing household items and vital repairs to vulnerable people’s homes. Charitable grants have also supported local groups and charities to enable communities to recover from the impact of the flooding.

Jonathan Shaw, Managing Director of Preston based Anderton Gables comments “the community spirit has been unbelievable.  Our Project and Development team has been project managing the urgent reinstatement and repair works to flood damaged residential and retail properties in Croston and we have also been working with community and sports centres in the Cumbria region.  Many local firms still face challenging times ahead and we are pleased to be able to support the residents of Lancashire as they rebuild their homes and business properties.

The Lancashire residents affected by the floods are already appreciative of the Government funding announced for flood defences, trading disruption to businesses, resident temporary accommodation and protection against future flooding.
